R. Michael Cross | Design Group

The rmichaelcross Design Group focuses on designing sustainable environments for home, work, and play. Their project team is composed of LEED Accredited Professionals with a broad range of experience in both residential and commercial design. Licensed in Virginia, DC, and Maryland, principal architect R. Michael Cross and his team serve a diverse range of clients across in a wide range of markets.


Michael Cross is back in his native town of Richmond, having left for a decade or so to to pursue his architectural studies. He holds both a bachelors degree from the University of Colorado in Environmental Design as well as a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Architecture. Before establishing R. Michael Cross Design Group, Cross worked in a variety of firms with the majority of his experience being split between designing high-end residential with Workshop/APD in NY, NY and designing a mixture of healthcare and commercial at Baskervill in Richmond, VA.


Evan MacKenzie is a homegrown addition to R Michael Cross Design Group, having worked and played in Richmond for the better part of a quarter century. Evan brings a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech, with further studies in English. Prior to joining RMCDG, Evan worked on retail and commercial architecture at Baskervill in Richmond, VA., and residential architecture at Glavé & Holmes Associates and Island Architects in Richmond, VA.
