We are a small architecture firm located near Dupont circle in Washington DC. We primarily serve the local mom & pop developer community by offering turn key design and permitting services related to residential condo conversations in the district of Columbia. Our team offers a great deal of zoning and permitting experience to our clients. Often advising them on feasibility prior to the time of purchase and then shepherding the project all the way through design, engineering and permit insurance.
R. MICHAEL CROSS, PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT, NCARB LEED AP
Firm Founder, R. Michael Cross, holds both a bachelors degree from the University of Colorado in Environmental Design as well as a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Architecture. Before establishing R. Michael Cross Design Group, Cross worked in a variety of firms with the majority of his experience being split between designing high-end residential with workshop/apd in NY, NY and designing a mixture of healthcare and commercial at Baskervill in Richmond, VA.
ELIZABETH STUART, SENIOR PROJECT DESIGNER, PROJECT COORDINATOR
Elizabeth Stuart was born and raised in Jamestown, NY, recently relocating to the DC area. She holds a bachelors and masters degree in Interior Architecture from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. Before joining RMC_DG, Lizzie worked on residential modular homes and more recently for a private company as an in-house interior designer completing a wide array for projects from healthcare and hospitality to corporate and residential projects. She has a strong interest in Interior Architecture and the walls the profession can break down.
MATTHEW LEE, SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT, AIA NCARB LEED GA
Matt is a Bahamian native who moved Stateside to study architecture at Tulane University in New Orleans. His time at Tulane was punctuated by Hurricane Katrina, which inspired him to study how architecture can improve and revitalize communities. From there he came to DC to start his architectural career, designing multifamily and affordable housing in the Metro area. Most recently he has spent time as a crew leader at Habitat for Humanity. Outside of architecture, Matt’s other interest is modern board games and how they create unique and shared social experiences.
VICTORIA GUNDRUM, PROJECT DESIGNER
Tory Gundrum was born and raised in Bridgeport, PA, just outside of Philadelphia. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Philadelphia University – now absorbed by Thomas Jefferson University as their East Falls Campus. Before joining the team at RMC_DG, Tory was a BIM Manager for Aramark in Philadelphia until her move to DC in Spring of 2016, when her company allowed her to work remotely. Her time spent there was largely facilities-based which is why she made the transition to RMC_DG to pursue her passion for interior Design.
BERT MEEKINS, PROJECT DESIGNER
Bert is from Bemus Point, New York. He has a Bachelors degree in Architecture from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Bert’s architectural career began by returning to his hometown where he designed single-family housing. Most recently, he has relocated to DC and has worked in various facets of architecture, including Institutional and Commercial projects in the classical style, and Master Planning. Outside of architecture, Bert’s interests include snowboarding, soccer, and hiking.
ALFRED MANALANG, PROJECT DESIGNER
Alfred was born and raised in Marikina Philippines. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Far Eastern University in Manila and also holds a professional license in Architecture in the Philippines. Before moving to the USA in 2014, Alfred worked on and designed multiple residential housing in his hometown. He also worked on medical & dental offices interior for a few years before joing RMC_DG and going back to his first love which is Residential Architecture. Alfred’s other interest includes Architectural Visualization, Digital Art & Basketball.
GARIMA GUPTA, PROJECT DESIGNER
Garima was born and raised in New Delhi, India, and relocated to DC after earning her Master of Architecture degree from University at Buffalo, NY. She holds a Bachelors degree in Architecture from I.P University in New Delhi. Before joining RMC_DG, and pursuing her masters, Garima worked on a wide array of projects from healthcare and hospitality to institutional and residential. She is passionate about architecture and is focused on resolving challenging design problems with innovative strategies that are not only sensitive towards the environment but also towards the user experiences and community building.
RYAN DUNLAP, PROJECT DESIGNER
Ryan Dunlap was born in Virginia, raised in Maryland. He received my Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland. Ryan practiced Plumbing Design at an Engineering firm while earning his degree. His curiosity in water issues involving the future lead him to continue practicing plumbing design before joining Michael Cross, however, his main interest is problem solving and providing solutions architecturally in order to meet the needs of the public. His interests outside of architecture are basketball, art and wandering through museums.
